What plans do youngsters come up with when they want to earn money? Often, a kid first tries selling lemonade, cookies, or something like that in their front yard. Even if they don’t want it, people who pass by usually make a purchase to avoid hurting the child’s feelings.

If a 13 year old wants to make money there are really not many options. Most companies will not hire children that young and so the only alternative is for them to get a babysitting job or something like that. Yard work for the neighbors is always a favorite along with things like walking dogs and paper routes.

If you find yourself needing money, but you are a young teenager, the best thing to do is to find a job that you will enjoy doing while you are earning your paycheck. Wait until you are older to look for the more serious and long-term career type job; there is no need to deny yourself enjoyment before you have to.

Once a teen is older they have more job possibilities. Some children may be cleverer and undertake a less conventional job – for instance, selling homemade cookies. Using your ambition and innovation will give you more ideas for work and perhaps improve your chances to succeed. Kids need a little support and direction to make their money making ideas a reality.

At the age of 15, many kids start thinking about getting a job during the summer to help them make money. They know that their 16 birthday, and their driver’s license, is coming up and they are going to want to have money to spend. When the times are tough economically, jobs are going to be difficult to find and easy to lose, making it especially difficult for these teenagers. Teenagers are at the perfect age for learning responsibility and getting their lives off to the correct type of start. If they cannot find either a summer or part time job, the lesson of responsibility is gong to be delayed.
