For your little rock star!

I bought this on the advice of a friend who's bought several for his family. All of them are far better musicians than I, so perhaps you should take my review with a grain of salt.
But my 7-year old loves it, and the fit and finish are better than I expected. The included amp works great, and even if my son has no interest in lessons yet, it's there for him to play with, which he does.
It stays in tune better than my acoustic guitar as well.
I really need to make a video of him singing though; his lyrics sometimes make Gordon Gano seem sane! |
Cute but needs to be retuned!

| This is a cute looking guitar with very nice paint finish. Little ones won't be disappointed but it won't stay in tune for a long time. You have to retune it before each use! Also, the kit includes the amplifier but not the DC adapter (so you have to buy one). You can still use batteries in the amplifier. |
Be careful!

| My grandson loves the way it looks and has no trouble with the little amp, but we haven't been able to get it tuned at all! Other reviews had suggested that it might be hard to keep in tune, but we assumed it could be tuned.J. Reynolds Mini Double Cutaway Electric Guitar Prelude Pack - Rockin' Red |
Looks good, musically awful

Bought one of these for our 8 year old for Christmas. It's nearly impossible to get it into tune by an experienced guitar player. After an hour's work, it got in tune but the tone is dull. And it won't keep a tune longer than about 2 chords. If you want a prop, there are far cheaper options, if you want something that your child can make music with, this isn't it.

| This thing is cheap, won't tune at all. The frets are roughly finished so the edges are sharp, not a good thing if you are buying it for your little kid. Not recommended. Waste of money. |
