Rocky Balboa: Rocky, now a 6O-ish widower and restaurant owner, who’s disassociated from his business yuppie son (Ventimiglia), plans to re-enter the ring one last time to battle the present Heavyweight Champ. Not as poor as it may have been, even though it strains credibility; contrived, to be certain, although additionally curiously admiring. A number of ESPN-type Television identities appear as themselves. Cast includes Sylvester Stallone, Burt Youthful, Milo Ventimiglia, Geraldine Hughes, James Francis Kelly Sick, Tony Burton, A. J. Benza, Henry G. Sanders, and Antonio Tarver. (102 minutes, 2006)

I Wake Up Screaming: An amusing whodunit with Grable and Mature accused in the death of Betty’s sis, chased by decided cop Cregar. The film ends with an excellent twist. Cast includes Betty Grable, Victor Mature, Carole Landis, Laird Cregar, William Gargan, Alan Mowbray, Allyn Joslyn, and Elisha Cook. (82 minutes, 1941)

Afurika Monogatari: Guide Sayer crashes his jet in wilds of Africa and comes upon a game conserve. Even old Jimmy is uninteresting. The movie was filmed in Kenya. Cast includes James Stewart, Philip Sayer, Kathy, Eleanora Vallone, and Heekura Simba. (120 minutes, 1981)

Cry Terror: This quick moving film hides the implausibility of the caper of psychopath Steiger pushing Mason to help him in master extortion plot that was filmed on N.Y.C. locations. Cast includes James Mason, Rod Steiger, Inger Stevens, Neville Label, Angie Dickinson, and Jack Klugman. (96 minutes, 1958)

Scandalous: A feather brained sham in regards to investigative TV journalist who runs afoul of a team of con artists as he tries to extricate himself from a homicide charge. Cast includes Robert Hays, John Giegud, Pamela Stephenson, and Jim Dale. (94 minutes, 1984)

Thief of Baghdad: Reeves looks for the elusive blue rose so he can wed the Sultan’s daughter. This is nothing like the Sabu rendition, although this is a good piece of work. Cast includes Steve Reeves, Giorgia Moll, Arturo Dominici, and Edy Vessel. (90 minutes, 1961)

A Scandal in Paris: A fashionable 8th century tale based on the recollections of the infamous Frenchman Eugene Vidocq, whose life of crime comes to a crossroads while he confronts a youthful lady who cherishes him. The clever script was tailor-made for Sanders. Cast includes George Sanders, Carole Landis, Akim Tarniroff, Signe Hasso, Gene Lockhart, Alan Napier, and Alma Kruger. (106 minutes, 1946)

The Pajama Game: This is an adaptation of the Broadway musical hit with much of its cast intact essentially interprets the word “exuberance.” Day is a pleasure as the head of a plant complaint agency that impulsively falls in love with the new foreman (Raitt, in his only featuring film). Richard Adler and Jerry Ross’ melodies contain “Hey, There.” Dancer Haney stands out in her “Mist Heat” characteristic and in the lively “Once a Year Night” barbeque number. Cast includes Doris Day, John Raitt, Carol Haney, Eddie Foy, Jr., Barbara Nichols, and Reta Shaw. (101 minutes, 1957)

Hot enough for June: Made at the peak of the James Bond fad, this spoof characteristics Bogarde as a bumbling spy in Czechoslovakia. This film is an occasionally clever, gleaming comedy. Cast includes Dirk Bogarde, Sylva Koscina, Leo McKern, Robert Morley, Roger Delgado, and John LeMesurier. (98 minutes, 1964)
